Where did the shinigami in Death Note come from? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! There may be some spoilers in this post though, so proceed with caution! Now then, on with the post! Although it's implied the shinigami from Death Note have always existed, it's never clear where they came from. They have been around for some time though, and the shinigami that are still around only write names in their Death Notes to stay alive. Not many things can kill shinigami either, and they only die when they run out of time or when they extend the life of a human they love. There is a theory that the unnamed shinigami seen in the movies is actually Light, which would mean at least some of the shinigami were previously human. However, this was never confirmed to be true; and whether the movies are even considered to be canon is unclear. Because of this, it's hard to say where the shinigami came from and why they existed in the first place. Not very much information was ever given for the shinigami or even the world they came from, either. But, these are mostly just my thoughts on this topic.
