Why doesn't Studio Ghibli make sequels? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! Although Studio Ghibli movies are always successful and a lot of people would like sequels to their favorite films, a full-length sequel for any of the movies has never been made. The closest they have come to making a sequel is The Cat Returns, which was a spinoff of the movie Whisper Of The Heart. The idea for certain sequels has been considered at times, but it still has yet to be a reality. But why is this? It may be because Studio Ghibli prefers focusing on original stories rather than revisiting their old works. Along with this, most, if not all, Studio Ghibli movies have very clean endings. Even if there are questions left unanswered, all of them work well as stand-alone movies. Adding a sequel to any of them may ruin the original stories. Furthermore, there may not be a lot of ideas to work with to help make a sequel to a pre-existing movie. However, these are just my thoughts on this topic. There may not be sequels just because the Studio doesn't want to make them. Unless it is otherwise stated, we'll never know the real reason for this. Nonetheless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post! As a little bonus, I will be including a picture from The Cat Returns below. Enjoy!
