Why should otome games have customizable protagonists? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! The problem with otome games is immersion. With dating sims, a lot of people like to feel like the characters like them. But in a lot of the games, they have a set protagonist. So even when there are dialogue options, it doesn't feel like the characters like you. It feels like you're living someone else's life. This is a big problem for dating sims, since a lot of players want the characters to love them specifically, not someone else. Some of them get around this problem by making characters you can customize. A lot of players seem to like this, because it feels more like the characters like them. They also like games that don't show the protagonist at all, since it has a similar effect. I think otome games either shouldn't show the protagonist at all, or let you pick someone who looks more like you. These games are a way to escape reality, or live out fantasies. Making someone else the center of these things just ruins the whole point of it. But, those are mostly just my thoughts on this topic. Nonetheless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post!
