Was Near a necessary character in the new Death Note One Shot? Well that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! There will be some spoilers in this post though, so proceed with caution! Now then, on with the post! So, was Near a necessary character? Although it was nice to see how Near looks now, he didn't really add very much to the story itself. Despite being one of the main characters from the original cast, he almost exclusively adds commentary when it comes to the new One Shot. Along with this, he also makes very few efforts towards actually catching the new Kira; and in the end he admits defeat. So, why was he included? I personally think he was just included to please long-time fans of the series. Not only is it nice to see a familiar character, it's also nice to see what Near is like now. Even if he didn't add very much to the story, many fans were glad to see he was back. Near may not have really been a necessary character, but he was still a good addition to the story. However, these are mostly just my thoughts on this topic. Nonetheless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post! As a little bonus, I will also be including a picture of Near below. Enjoy!
