What's the difference between a rip-off and inspiration? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! A lot of games are inspired by other games, but what makes it a rip-off? Regardless of how big a company is, anyone can make a rip-off. The biggest reason something is called a rip-off is because it isn't very different from the original. If something is like something else, but has an original story, original characters, and unique gameplay, then it's just inspired by the first game. But if it's practically an exact copy with fresh paint, it's a rip-off. For example, Digimon is like Pokemon, but it's still unique in a lot of ways. That means it's not a rip-off, it's just similar. This is a pretty important difference when modern fans are so quick to call everything a rip-off. There are a lot of games out there now, so it's hard not to think of something else while you're playing a new game. But it's important to remember that some things are just similar.
