Recently in the anime community I've noticed a growing problem. Characters aren't allowed to be who they are anymore. Feminine men have to be gay, masculine women have to be gay, men who wear women's clothes have to be trans, and women who wear men's clothes have to be trans. Fans push and push for these things and get angry and attack the creators when they aren't true. Gone are the days when characters could be characters and headcanons stayed in the fandom. My question is, why are these types of fans never happy with what they have? Why do they want people to be uncomfortable in their own bodies? Why are they threatened by people not changing genders when they change their clothes? Why do they want to force their ideas on things that don't need to be changed? It bothers me immensely that they would rather see a character be "inclusive" than to see a character who's authentic to who they are and who they were made to be. Luckily at the moment it's only a minority of anime fans who are like this. But where does it end? If they're willing to go so far as to attack the creators for not affirming their headcanons, then why would they stop with real people? Why wouldn't they push these feelings on real people who are just trying to be happy as the person they are? This is why these types of fans have become dangerous to the community. Be happy with what you have or find a character who has what you want. But, those are mostly just my thoughts on this topic. I wanted to talk about this because it's a serious topic and it's becoming a real problem. Nonetheless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post.
