Why are there so many Sanrio characters? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! For those of you who don't know, Sanrio is the company behind Hello Kitty. However, there are so many more Sanrio characters available; with even more being introduced nearly every year. But, why is this? Well, it's mostly because cute mascot characters are very popular in Japan. Sanrio is known primarily for its adorable characters, and making more gives the public a bigger variety to choose from. It also allows the creation of more merchandise, as well. This technique doesn't work for everyone though, since San-X, a rival company of Sanrio, is still almost exclusively known for Rilakkuma and a few others. More characters don't necessarily mean more money or merchandise either, especially considering less popular characters will get their plans and merchandise cancelled if they don't do well enough. But, these are mostly just my thoughts on this topic. Nonetheless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post! I will once again be including a picture of Kirimichan and their friends below because I love them and Sanrio has basically tossed them aside. But, this time they will be in human form!
