It's post time! For today's blog post, I will be giving my opinions on characters from the Fate series. I haven't watched the anime or played the games yet, so I won't be going into detail. Instead, I'd like to talk about the common practice of making male historical figures women in this series. Of course I know this isn't an accurate historical retelling of events, but I really disagree with taking real people and making them into something else. I really like the characters in this series, but I disagree with basing them on historical figures instead of just making new characters. It feels incredibly disrespectful to do this to real people, especially when most of the ones based on real women are done so more respectfully. It's an awful double standard and you shouldn't base them on real people at all if you're just going to do this with them. I think it would've been better to just lose the real historical part of it and base them on fictional historical figures instead. This would've solved a lot of problems and it wouldn't be as bad. It really wouldn't be a problem at all if these weren't real people. It doesn't matter if they aren't alive anymore. They were once and it's just rude to do that to people. But, these are mostly just my thoughts on this topic. I know I've seen other fans who have similar problems with this and I personally don't see why they had to be based on real people at all.
