Why is Gudetama more popular than Kirimichan? Well, that's what I'll be talking about in today's blog post! For those of you who don't know, Gudetama and Kirimichan are Sanrio characters. They were both released in 2013, and it was thought that Kirimichan would be the more popular one. However, Kirimichan unfortunately faded into obscurity. Instead, Gudetama grew massively in popularity. This is mostly because Gudetama is more relatable. Despite Sanrio's best efforts to promote Kirimichan, people just couldn't get enough of the depressed lazy egg who never wanted to move. People found Gudetama cuter and funnier than the poor salmon fish filet. So even though Gudetama has yet to get a Sanrio boy, there's still tons of other merchandise to choose from.
