Now then, on with the post! So, why is Matt so popular? Despite his little amount of screen-time in the anime and manga, he's actually one of the fan-favorites from the show. Even though we have enough information to piece together his personality, he wasn't given enough time to fully flesh out his character. But, this might be one of the reasons fans like him. Since fans didn't get very much time with him, his character is basically left open for fans to interpret. As long as fans keep with the base information we've been given, the possibilities are virtually endless. Along with this, he is often seen with Mello when he is shown, which probably helped to raise his popularity. He is often shown with Mello when fans create fan-art and fan-fictions as well. He also has a cool looking design too, and the parts of his personality fans do know about probably helped make him a more relatable character. All of this is most likely what helped make Matt a popular character despite his little amount of exposure. But, these are mostly just my opinions on it anyways.
