It's post time! For today's blog post, I will be talking about the romanticization of Death Note characters; specifically Light and L. Although there's nothing wrong with liking a character, many fans willingly overlook the personal flaws of the characters. Death Note is a series that purposefully gives each character a flaw to show that no one will ever be perfect. Whether you can overlook these flaws or not is up to you, but they are there. For example, Light is narcissistic, egotistical, and he usually doesn't care about people in general. On the other hand, L can have a cold demeanor, and he's insanely codependent. He can hardly take care of himself, he eats a lot, and he's a bit germaphobic. Many people won't even bother to acknowledge these issues, and they treat them like they're perfect. They often make stories or comments about how perfect these characters are, even though they're far from it. Light and L are humans, and no human will ever be perfect. The series even shows that shinigami themselves are known to be flawed even though they're gods; which means no one in the Death Note universe is ever perfect. Death Note may just be a work of fiction, but it isn't really healthy to idolize anyone and treat them as if they're perfect. No one is perfect, and that's okay. Regardless, I hope you all still enjoyed this blog post!
