It's time for another new blog post! Today I got a chance to play Mushroom Oasis, which is a free to play visual novel game made by DeersphereStudios, and it's available on Itch.io. I'm not going to go into too much detail to avoid spoilers, but I'm about halfway through one route and I already have mixed feelings about this game. I love the art style, and Mychael himself is a good character with a really amazing design. But the story is a little frustrating. The main character makes stupid decisions, and there are barely any choices for you to make. Playing the game feels like I'm just watching someone do the opposite of everything I tell them to do. It gets so annoying very quickly. Sometimes I pick an option and the main character does the exact opposite thing instead. Plus sometimes decisions are taken away from you, which makes it even more frustrating to play. I don't really like when games force you to do certain things unless it's done properly, and since this game already doesn't have very many choices, it doesn't feel like it's done properly. However, I will say that's a personal preference, so it might feel different for other people. Don't just take my word for it! Try the game yourself and form your own opinions about it. Keep in mind this game is made for adults, even if it doesn't have any NSFW content.
